Dirty Split in English

Good news for everyone: Dirty Split is now available in English, too! About a month after the release of the German version you English-speaking folks can finally enjoy Baxter’s adventures. And I do hope you’ll enjoy them, so have fun (and don’t forget to tell me about it!).

Once again, I’d like to thank everyone involved in this project, this time most importantly the English voice cast. You’ve all done a great job. And it was a pleasure working with each and every one of you :o)

The English download and the soundtrack download does not seem to be working. :(

  2. It’s working again – there was a bad link. I’m sorry for the confusion.

    Anyway, everything’s okay now :o)

  3. PROFESSOR FARNSWORTH!

And thats great! I’ll be happy to listen to SurrealStage/Chris Spirit in this!

  4. AthenaMuze

That was a ton of fun to play! Thanks so much, it’s very nicely done all around.

  5. Awesome game, I love the look, the gameplay, the puzzles, I really hope you have a sequal in mind.

  6. Very good game! And nice sense of humor, awesome references to “The Godfather” and Ocean’s 11 12 13. Graet job.

  7. xD Wonderful. Enjoyed the game, although it was pretty short.

A possible bug though: (spoiler warning?)

I got the autograph from Lola, signed to Chee Chee and signed by Mde Ferroux. However, when I passed it to him the first time, he didn’t buy it. I don’t know if I did that according to a certain sequence I was supposed to follow; I think I only talked about the poster AFTER I gave him the first autograph perhaps.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

  8. That’s an intended sequence, since otherwise there’s no logical explanation for Baxter giving an autograph to a complete stranger. There needs to be a reason, and the poster is a hint.

Thank you for your comment(s) :o)

  9. Excellent game! Very well done. My hats off to you and everyone who worked on it. This game gave me a really good vibe. I wish you luck, success and hope you make more classy games like this.

  10. 11 out of 10 :D. Best adventure game I have played since Broken Sword 2. If they do another monkey island, you should be on the team. The end… Just lost for words.

  11. This is one of best adventure game I have ever played. (Very reasonable puzzles)
I usually don;t play adventure games because most of them are too difficult for me and
    do not give me fun.
This is good game for me and I really enjoyed it. Very Good Works!

Could you make an option for holding conversion? some dialog is little hard to understand but it keeps go away.

  12. AlcalaMeco

Please a site for the player can comincate us about the game.

  13. I’ve written you an email about that. Anyway, if anyone has a question or needs my help, they can always contact me.

  14. I love the jazz-flavored, beatnik graphics. I had fun playing this game, which is more than I can say about many commercial games these days. Well done.

  15. Great game, love point and click games. Wish it was longer though didnt take too long to complete Bring on number 2!

  16. Hi, I enjoyed this game very much. I like the graphics, humor. Music is also nice. I am Monkey Island fan and it was really funny when you can say: “I’m selling this fine lether jackets” or ask for an autograph for Guybrush :)
    I hope you’ll make a sequel.

  17. Hey, wonderful game! I love all of it… graphics, music, voices, interface… all is perfect-built and very charismatic. I’m waiting for your next job. Thanks for this adventure and keep rockin’!!!

  18. Great game. Loved it. I have a gaming blog in Hebrew, and I reviewed it… gave it 4 out 5. :D

  19. I am stuck at the airport now. I used the note with the locker number and combination on the locker. It didn’t work. There’s no option to go anywhere else. I used everything else on the locker too. None of them work. Did I miss the sequence somehow when I revealed what was on the note pad by using the pencil earlier?

  20. “I am stuck at the airport now. There’s no option to go anywhere else. I used everything else on the locker too. None of them work.”

I meet the same problem right now, help!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Hello, downloaded the game and finished up in about 2hours I would say.Thats only because I messed a round a bunch trying to shoot everyone haha.I loved the game and was a bit sad when it ended. You did a fantastic job and the puzzles were veryy easy to understand.I really appreciate the fact there are no points where you can get stuck.I have played other adventure games and if you miss and item you cannot go back which is so frustrating when you HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR LIKE 3 HOURS!!!Anyway whew, sorry about that.I love the game and great job

  22. I just finished the game’s German version, and it’s fair to say that the onlys critizism I can come up with is that it was too short. Very well executed, polished in every aspect. My hat off to you, sir.

  23. Congratulations on creating a truly exquisite game! I love the design and style of DIRTY SPLIT, and the voice acting and soundtrack are both top-notch. The bits of sly humor (George and Julia Ocean, Baxter’s comment of “Sometimes I feel like an invisible force is trying to convince me to commit senseless acts,” etc.) really enhance the gameplay. I love the character of Baxter and would love to see more games featuring him. Thank you for providing this lovely, fun game.

  24. I got the autograph from Lola to Chee Chee with the signature from Madame Ferroux however when trying to give it to Chee Chee Baxter just asks “Why should I give him that?”

Is there something I am missing?

Maybe this happens because I in the first place asked for an autograph for Sam and now the game thinks that I made a mistake?

Really dont hope I have to start all over just because of this…

    Please help!

  25. You don’t need to start all over. Baxter just needs a reason to give the autograph to Chee Chee. Have you looked at the poster in the motel reception area?

  26. Hi Uwe.

First of all, forgot to say that it is truly an amazing game you have made. And truly amazing that it is free. Think you have a bright future ahead.

Now back to my problem. I already looked at the poster but Baxter just continues to say the same frase: “Yet another poster for Mdme Ferroux show. She seems to be a full-blown star”.

Any other things I could try?

    Thanks in advance!

  27. Thank you :o)

About your problem: If you look at the poster and Baxter says his phrase, Chee Chee should comment on it. Then you can talk to Chee Chee about Mme Ferroux and find out that he’s a fan. He should accept the autograph then.

If the problem persists or if you encounter more difficulties, don’t hesitate to email me via the contact form. I’ll be glad to help.

  28. Dirty Split game

Loved it! Worked and played well. Made me think!… Got any more like this? If so, please send them!

    Keep them coming!

  29. Fantastik game loved it,not to complecate to play

  30. Its rare to find a “FREE” full version game that is so enjoyable to play!!! GREAT JOB! \
Downloaded the English Version and played it with no problems at all!
Start to finish took me aprox. 2 1/2 hrs to play.
This is the first time I got so caught up in a game that I did not want to stop playing until I got to the end! Too bad there is not more crimes for Baxter to solve following this one. Kinda like Sherlock Holmes…….that would be great.
Looking forward to more games soon!

  31. Help! I also am stuck at the airport. I’ve revealed the locker number and combination on the note pad, but Baxter is still convinced that he doesn’t know the locker number or combination…

  32. Aha! I didn’t realize that just because I can read it, doesn’t mean Baxter can. Have to actually right-click and have him read it.

  33. Adorable and charming! I loved it! And the style is just gorgeous. More please!

  34. Hy,
The game was very good!I like it, and it was not so easy to find out things! The story was great, but I would let the Doctor go..:)
And I’m waiting for the next game from You!!!!!!
    By!By!

  35. Dirty Split is great and cool. I can’t help whopping myself and laughing whenever I figure something out. Thanks for the great game!

Btw, can you make another game like Dirty Split? There was a mention of a Stockman case, wherein Martha Stockman turned Miss Meadows (friend of Mrs. Vanderbuilt) was involved. Can you turn it into a game like Dirty Split too? With voices, soundtracks, clues and all that. It would be cool if you made it into one, and it’ll be like a presequel of DIrty Split, dontcha think? :) Just suggesting. Thanks a lot!!

  36. Thomas you need to ask Lola for autograph first then she will write “for Chee Chee” and then ask Feroux to sign it.

  37. oh. sorry. you already did that

  38. Played it and had an enjoyable eavening.
I liked the relaxed pace and the humor in all the details.

    Found the game on gamershell.com
    The whole game works perfectly
Vista didn’t put a link to the game in the Game explorer for me but that wasn’t a problem.

  39. Played it, liked it, very stylish, just wished it could have been longer, much longer!!

  40. Got this on a cd with some pc magazine. Only took me a couple hours to finish, but I loved every minute of it. I’d love to see Baxter return again. :)

  41. brilliant, i love the art direction and the music that went with it, it had a really relaxing feel too it, the only puzzle that took me a while to figure out, was the locker puzzle, the rest seemed fairly striaght forward, great game though!. A+.

  42. Thanks for the Great Game …i really enjoyed playing it !!

  43. hey im stuck i just finished talking to sam the only thing he gave me was a picture not no calling list can anyone help me

  44. Help! I also am stuck at the airport.Help! I also am stuck at the airport.Help! I also am stuck at the airport.ME TOOOOOO VIXY

  45. I really enjoyed this. Very well done =)

My only complaint is that some of the puzzles had to be solved one specific way, so that even though you’d already figured out the solution to a puzzle, you have to guess at how the game wants you to solve it “the right way”, and at the right time too.

For example, the locker puzzle. I got the message on the pad as soon as I found it, and connected it to the lockers at the airport right away. Of course this was way too early in the game for me to get the travel catalogue clue, so the game didn’t allow me to access the box. But Baxter just said what I was trying to do was nonsensical. It’d saved a lot of frustration if the game had maybe acknowledged the solving of the puzzle somehow, but had had Baxter say something like he didn’t want to pry without a good reason, though that might not have made sense in the context.. perhaps it’d've been better to have restricted access to the boxes until the right moment, construction or a wash cart or an aggressive drunk or something. Also, having to read the pad *again* at the right time caused additional frustration; I’d already read it before but didn’t solve the puzzle since it was too early, and using the pad on the lockers didn’t make sense to Baxter.

Another example is the key to the cabinet at the murder scene. I’d already tried to take the statue before (adventure games tend to induce kleptomania), but Baxter didn’t want to carry it. This made me assume that the statue was unimportant, detail. So I didn’t think of it later when I had to get at the files in the cabinet somehow. I did eventually try to pick it up again with the intention of maybe shashing the cabinet though, so this wasn’t that bad =)

Also the autograph. The first autograph I tried wasn’t written to Chee Chee, so it wouldn’t be accepted, which is fine of course, but it would’ve been better if Baxter had said something to the effect in stead of idly wondering why he was having these urges to do nonsensical things.

And a few other things as well, but you get the idea by now, heh =)

Oh also, there’s a bug in the cabin. The line “And it worked for a while, too” is said by Baxter (over his head and in his text colour), but with the voice of the other guy.

Still, as I said, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one =)

  46. Help, Stuck in the Gondola in the mountains, got the hatch open and the rope tied to the box, but have no clue where to go from here…

    Thanks

  47. in gondola: snips/oxygen tank/funnel

    Love the game.

  48. I love the game and I usually play Oblivion and the like. Based on the response maybe you could do a walkthrough or a hint file or download.

I am also stuck, but in the casino, I can’t figure out how to get up to the penthouse. I have the firecrackers, I thought to somehow to use them to create a distraction to get the key, but nothing works or is there someone else I need to talk to?

  49. I just dropped you an email with a few hints (I prefer not to put walkthroughs right here since that might spoil the fun for some).

  50. Uwe,

I just finished the game and I must say that your work (and the rest of the team, including the fantastic voice actores) is phenomenal. The art style and animations is really something you should be proud of.

I’ll have my review up soon, and if it’s ok I’ll post it here too.

Once again, congratulations on your work, can’t wait for your next game.
